Images of flowers from our garden – what a strange summer it’s been. First there was the draught, evening after evening watering with cans filled from our eight water butts. No doubt a good weight bearing exercise. Then all eight butts were empty and we had to resort to the hose for the vegetables (Hose pipe ban meant we couldn’t use the hose for anything else). Then came the weeks and weeks of rain and most of our magnificent sun flowers were beaten down and ended up as cut flowers in vases and jugs. The hollyhocks however survived. This cluster of white blooms just outside my study window where I sit working on the prequel to Amie’s Rest and sending off submissions to agents.
